Decision making…

It's been quite a while now that I've wanted a dog. With two allergic parents it couldn't happen when I was little, and then I started wandering the world, knowing it was the wrong time. I knew that the day would come, however, and kept looking at all the wonderful breeds out there. During my autumn term at MUN I started seriously reading dog books, and did more serious breed research. I found my dream breed, looked up Norwegian breeders, and had all but made up my mind about which one I would get my puppy from — some unknown time in the future.

Fortunately I was not the only one walking around with puppy thoughts. Together with Mel, my fellow aikidoka with puppy daydreams, I discussed puppies for hours, until I came to a very exciting conclusion. The best time to bring a puppy into my life was in fact my last year of school, rather than waiting until I went back to work in Norway — more time at home and a flexible schedule seemed ideal. Within a week or so, after a little more pondering, I'd gotten in touch with Angie, of SterlingDen, a very experienced Tervuren breeder in Ontario. The deposit was paid, and my excitement really took off. Now, three weeks later, almost all the puppy supplies are ready (though packed in boxes for the move this autumn), and I'm eagerly awaiting news from "my" breeder confirming pregnancies in both of the red females she's bred.

On the right is Porsha as a one-year old. She is now a lovely, well-tempered three-year old.

On the left is Italia, who is indeed half Italian. Here she is two years old, though now age five, her coat is more richly coloured than the picture would have you believe.

Both have been bred to silver males, so roughly half of each litter should be red — and among them will be my pup!
